Barbados Plugging the Nursing Brain Drain

Barbados nurses

Touched By An Angel Nursing Services – Barbados

Barbados is suffering from the common dilemma throughout the region of nurses leaving the public health system for a variety of reasons, retirement, illness, frustration, career changes, and frequently for greener pastures and a host of other reasons. Unfortunately, those who are left behind are overworked due to manpower shortages resulting in “burn out”. In an attempt to address this issue, the minister of health and wellness, Lt. Col. Jeffrey Bostic, announced at the Caribbean Nurses Association, that his ministry will be reviewing a number of recommendations from a recent Nursing Migration Study released last year.https://www.caribbeannewsnow.com/2018/10/23/barbados-government-working-to-limit-nursing-brain-drain/
