Cancer care delivery in the public health system has been further boosted with the opening of Jamaica’s second National Cancer Treatment Centre located at the St Joseph’s Hospital compound in Kingston. The Kingston centre’s opening comes at a cost of US$15-million and just over a year after a similar facility, commenced operations at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay. The centre, utilises state-of-the-art Linear Accelerator (LINAC) machine to administer radiation therapy.
